Good Morning Jamokes, it’s Monday August 3, 2020!
As it is every August 3rd, today is National Watermelon Day!
Watermelons can actually be traced back to southern Africa. The plant part of the watermelon is known as a pepo, which is a berry with a thick rind. While the juicy insides are normally red to pink, you can also find some that are orange, yellow, or white. Based off of the name, watermelons generally fall under the “melon” category, and are particularly enjoyed in the summer, as they are more than 90% water. This characteristic makes them very refreshing in these hot summer months.
Hey kids, cool down with a sweet watermelon, and I’ll see you tomorrow, when it’s time to celebrate…
