As it is every August 4th, today is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!
Ladies and gentleman, today celebrates America’s favorite cookie, the old reliable, chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chip cookie dates back to 1937. It was then that Ruth Graves Wakefield, owner of the Tollhouse Inn (sound familiar?) decided to make a batch of cookies. During that excursion, she decided to add chocolate to the dough. Once the cookies hit the oven, the unmistakable smell of chocolate chip cookies was born, and we haven’t looked back since.
While not my favorite cookie, chocolate chip cookies are certainly up there for me. Maybe it’s that smell I mentioned earlier, or maybe its the great feeling associated to taking a bite of a hot, fresh cookie, but it’s absolutely wonderful. There’s nothing quite as good as that delicious cookie, accompanied by an ice cold glass of milk.
