Breaking News: FanDuel #1 Sportsbook…Due To AAF?

As sports gambling becomes legal across the United States, domestic and international sportsbooks are using whatever angles possible to gain customers in the new emerging market. Some books are offering a deposit-match bonus…some books are offering to refund losing wagers…however, FanDuel Sportsbook is taking an unprecedented step:

(ESPN) FanDuel made every AAF bettor happy by declaring the 7-1 Orlando Apollos champions and paying out futures bets on them. However, the company decided to also grade all futures bets on the other seven AAF teams as winners, including the Memphis Express and Atlanta Legends — two teams that had been eliminated from playoff contention.

What is the opposite of a bad beat? Whatever you would call it, that’s what this is (especially for the dumbasses who put money on the Express and the Legends). As a long-suffering degenerate, this is basically the dream. I could 1000% see myself looking at the AAF rosters on February 5th, and talking myself into Zach Mettenberger, Christian Hackenberg, AND Zac Stacy on the Mike Singletary-led Memphis Express, and laying more than a couple of shekels on them to win the AAF Championship. I would’ve rode the roller coaster of a 2-6 season, being so disappointed by Memphis being knocked out of the playoff race, but holding out the ridiculous hope that MAYBE the league would shut down before the regular season ends.

HOLY SHIZZ! IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED! This is basically the equivalent of a needing to recover two onside kicks, with touchdowns and two-point conversions to match! To the degenerates out there who are now getting paid on losing bets—congratulations!

For those of you wondering why FanDuel would do this, it’s simple—they’re attempting to get an edge with XFL bettors in 2020. We all know that any league that attempts to oppose the NFL, even in the offseason, hasn’t had any measure of success since the USFL. Hell, the original iteration of the XFL barely made it through it’s first season (congrats Tommy Maddox). This move was done, in an attempt to increase XFL bets next season, probably with an emphasis on futures bets. And it’s fucking genius. Whether they plan on advertising this or not, this gesture will not be forgotten by the gambling community, and the books will make money (the house always wins).

Now, hold my drinks while I go lay $1000 on the XFL NY franchise for 2020…
