Good Morning Jamokes, it’s Tuesday July 21, 2020!
As it is every July 21st, today is National Junk Food Day!
Thanks to technological advances, it was in the late 1800’s that packaged food became readily available. With that, junk food became a “thing.” Despite this, it wasn’t until after World War II that these shitty junk foods started to be popularized. As the nuclear family life became more hectic, getting busier with each generation, more families were willing to resort to junk food to satiate their appetites.
Much like “comfort” food, junk food is a subjective term. The overlapping section of the Venn diagram between junk food and comfort food doesn’t end there, as many types of junk food fall under the commonly held comfort food umbrella as well. Whether it’s something from the frozen food aisle, or from your favorite fast food place, it’s always a treat when you have junk food.
Hey kids, you get a one day reprieve to mow down on your fav junk foods, and I’ll see you tomorrow, when it’s time to celebrate…
