Good Morning Jamokes, it’s Monday July 12, 2021!
As it every July 12th, today is National Different Colored Eyes Day!
When someone/thing has two different colored eyes, it is as a result of a condition called Heterochromia. There are three main types of heterochromia:
- Complete heterochromia – one iris is a different color from the other
- Partial heterochromia or sectoral heterochromia – part of one iris is a different color from the rest of the iris
- Central heterochromia – an inner ring is a different color than the rest of the iris.
Heterochromia is generally as a result of genetics, caused by a disease, or due to an injury. With that being said, two diseases that could cause heterchromia are mosaicism and chimerism.
Hey kids, watch something that has someone with heterochromia (Christopher Walken, Dan Akroyd, Elizabeth Berkley, Mila Kunis, just to name a few), and I’ll see you tomorrow, when it’s time to celebrate…
