Good Morning Jamokes, it’s Thursday February 20, 2020!
As it is every February 20th, today is National Cherry Pie Day!
It makes sense that National Cherry Pie Day is in February, as this month also has George “Cherry Tree” Washington’s birthday in it. Cherry pie was brought to America by the first English settlers. When these original pies were cooked, it took place in long, narrow pans called “coffyns.” Similar to Roman times, these original pie crusts were more of a tool to keep the filling(s) in place, and were not traditionally eaten.
As I always like to remind people, I’m keto, so I can’t get down with cherry pies in real life, but when Fat Jordan comes out, he has zero issue with them. In a world populated by apple pies, blueberry pies, fruit of the forest pies, and others, I feel as though cherry pies generally get forgotten about, which is a damn shame. Good thing we have (had) Jani Lane and those fine kids from Warrant to remind us of the pros of cherry pie…
Hey kids, enjoy a hot, tasty slice of cherry pie, and I’ll see you tomorrow, when it’s time to celebrate…
