As it is every last Wednesday of March, it’s Manatee Appreciation Day…
I’m sure this day has been marked on your calendars for weeks, so here are a few fun facts about manatees:
- Manatees spend most of their lives eating, sleeping, and traveling (sweet life, bro)
- Manatees prefer calmer bodies of water
- Manatees can be found mostly in Florida during the winter, and as far north as Virginia, or as far west as Texas, during the warmer months
- In Florida, riding a manatee is illegal, and punishable by a fine of up to $500, or up to 60 days in jail…which seems like a completely reasonable price to pay
